Chapter 2

Tiali couldn't sleep that night, her mind wondered all of the doubt and confusion, including the understanding of the Retoarans, she feared even for her well being and health. She had to consider her human side, how fragile and sensitive she could be to certain comments, or remarks about her or her people. She arose from her bed and sat on her chair, but still in the dark, as she sat down, she felt something go 'oomph!' she gasped and hurried off. It was Lorz, she backed away. He awoke. "Dawn isn't in another fifteen hours." he yawned tiredly. Clearly Tiali's planet's time differed from Retoara, Lorz moved over from the chair, so she could sit down with him. "What are you doing in my room?" she said with a hint of humor.

" You were whimpering in your sleep. I thought you were being attacked, when I came in I saw you sleeping, and I just wanted to stay just encase of anything was to happen, it's my job to protect you now..." he smiled. She gave a nod while hiding her blush with her golden curls. Lorz would find himself touching it, he found it interesting to touch, knowing Tiali inherited the gene from her mother, he started to think, if he was to reproduce with Tiali how would offspring would look like, knowing genetics, they could come out human, or mixed with his genes and Tiali's though, breeding with a Gray would dishonor his family. He stroked her hair once more, she found herself blushing deeper than before, she didn't mind him touching her hair.  Tiali found herself being lulled from the stroking of her hair, he continued purring in content, she slowly went into a slumber within the arms of Lorz, he too fell into the same deep slumber as well. As the morning approached, both were ready for the day, Tiali had to meet with several other members of other tribes, that have been brought in from hearing the news of her presence. Lorz sat beside Tiali, as the others sat across from her, Tiali had forgotten that their meetings were held indoor gardens with crowds surrounding along side their owns seats. Tiali knew she could at risk of being hurt or attacked, this was probably the most unsecured moment she had ever been in. Lorz sensed her mood, and had to agree with her. His eyes looked out to the crowd and there he saw a face he dreaded seeing ever since he returned, his rival, and nothing but a thorn to his side. Klarxor... Tiali heard his thoughts.

' Lorz? What's wrong?' she asked.

' It's my rival, Klarxor... he's been nothing but a pain and an obstacle to my cause with your people and mine, he wants it to stay the way it is, as for me I don't." he explained. 'He might try something, or use some tactic to make everyone turn against you.' he warned.

Tiali looked at the male, a no wonder... he was a brute looking male. Strong , built and bred for fighting for any reason it would seem. She felt now more uncomfortable than ever, thinking if Kiali was here with her, she would have to leave or lock herself in her room. Tiali looked at Lorz for comfort in his thoughts. The crowd grew silent as the each king entered, each in their regal custom clothing, Tiali dress outmatched the females. Tiali stood and waited for each member to sit including the wives. each with their matching Jewel encrusted necklaces to represent what king and tribe they belonged to. Tiali sat and then... it was a battle right there before her eyes, there was no talk, just plain senseless fighting, even the females were battling next to their mates. How could they? Is this how they solved issues? No wonder why the Grays wanting nothing to do with the Retoarans in any issues... Tiali stood up catching everyone's attention.

"I must be excused... this display is not my way of discussing matters..." was all she said hurrying off.

They were all stunned, thinking who does this Ambassador think she is? The female who was silent all the time, sighed in defeat from her people's display. Then her king noticed her down mood, and disappointment, she looked towards him and looked away even more sadder. He looked away without a word with face plain from emotions. Lorz went to follow Tiali, and his parents stopped him.   "Why wait your time with her, she'll never understand our ways, she's nothing to our concern..." said his father for the first time in begging tone with seething his teeth in a threat.

Lorz hissed at him reply. "She is MY concern!" he shouted leaving them all in shock, even the quiet female was stunned.  The other wives found this very amusing and shocking, especially the king, could it be that a Retoaran has fallen in love with a Gray? This brought attention to Klarxor and he took off following her without anyone noticing, he found a passage that led right to her, as he hurried, he caught her right on time. There he stood in front of her, with no words, just staring at her, raising his spike crests, Tiali was a little disturbed and backed away slowly from him, without him knowing she was hearing his thoughts, and she was now in danger he was claiming her as his property... Lorz caught up and saw the sight before, he knew perfectly well what his rival wanted... Tiali...

"Klarxor... get away and leave us..." Lorz hissed standing in front of a frightened Tiali, seeing him made her sigh in relief silently. The rival growled in return he knew Lorz wouldn't submit or give up anything, especially this Gray female... Klarxor suddenly charged at Lorz but he went for Tiali! In a quick reaction Lorz pushed her to the side making her fall as he took the blow from his rival... Lorz recovered quickly, but the blow took it out of him, and his rival had him pinned down with his claws digging into his throat. Tiali saw the fearing sight, and out of no where, her fangs seethed out, and she gave a battle shriek, and charged for Klarxor... she grabbed him and flung him, rolling on the ground he arose, now he was furious, he roared threatening her, only to be replied one of her fearing shrieks, he started to encircle her as she did with him, though taller, he was at a great disadvantage... she knew his every move from his thoughts, though she would pretend she didn't know, she waited for the right moment to strike him down.

" I'm warning you..." she hissed.  " Leave us or I will finish this as quickly as it started... Leave... Now..."

He stared at her in shock, how dare this female make him submit or give up, not a chance, he wouldn't, she was probably bluffing he thought, but, Oh he was so completely wrong as any wrong could ever be... he failed to remember never judge your opponent so easily... He unsheathed his claws, flashed his fangs, and charged right at her, with cunning speed, she just waited and... she ducked as he went to swing with one of his clawed hands, she grabbed them and broke them in one switch of her hands, and then with a mighty shriek she flung him across from her, making him hit his head on a boulder, causing him to fall into unconsciousness, Tiali went to finish him off, yet she couldn't not when she heard a pained groan from Lorz... She eased from her anger, and hurried to Lorz side... "Lorz are you alright? Come on let's get you back home." she stated helping him up to his feet, she let him lean on her as they walked back home...

Hours passed and Lorz was resting in his bed, with Tiali bandaging his chest, that ramming blow took it out of him. He watched Tiali finish with the bandages, and thought how delicate she was, but from seeing the event with his rival, he thought differently about her, if she was capable fighting a male taller and dangerous, what else was she capable of?   He felt a little intimidated by her now... she was capable of harming... his thoughts changed about Grays, it was true... they were hostile when threatened... Including her human genetics which made her even more emotional, and acted on those impulses.

"I know what your thinking about me." Tiali said sitting next to him. " It won't happen again." she assured.

" Are you certain... I think others might try to cause some form of confrontation. I feel you can handle it without my assistance... but this matter was more personal..." he said hinting his words. Tiali knew what he meant. "I understand you wanted to protect me, and claim me as your mate, but on my planet it's different, we are more with our thoughts, and vows said privately to each other, I'm sorry if you think I made you inferior to me, which you are not, my reflects are my advantage as your combat skills are more of your stronghold."



"Was that to insult me?" he asked offensively.



Tiali looked at him confused... "I think we need to spend some time alone for now... or until you can come to some sense of reasoning. Until then I will stay at the king's palace." she said leaving to get her things. Lors hissed at himself what has he done...
  
The  king granted Tiali to stay and considered it an honor, and meanwhile one of his mates where with him, the quiet female stood by his side as they spoke, she observed the meeting with wondering eyes, she was curious about the Gray, and her hair, she had never seen a Gray with such odd features, she knew humans had hair... but how did this one get hair from? She turned her attention back to the meeting. Morzk spoke. "Ambassador Tiali, I look forward to our meeting together tomorrow morning, meanwhile it will bring most honor if you let my beloved and cherished mate, Arria. to be your help and tutor of our culture during your stay, she too has a love of your ways of living on your planet, and is a very quiet jewel as she is but gentle has one of prized and beloved flowers, as such adorns her crest." he complemented his beloved female.  Arria found herself smiling at her mate, Tiali realized that Morzk loved Arria than the others, since they seemed to be more on status and pleasure of wealth of their planet. After the audience with Morzk, Arria led Tiali to her chamber, where she would be staying.


" I hope you find this to your liking." spoken softly from Arria. "Our King has made sure that you have the grand view of city." she finished.



"Thank your grace." Tiali spoke kindly. " I sense you are very curious about Grays, if you ever need answers. I would be more than happy to answer them."



Arria bowed with a smile. "I do in fact its about your feature of head, what is it?" she asked curiously.



"It's hair. My mother is human and I inherited from her." Tiali smiled in reply. Arria was amazed. " Your father is Gray? and your mother is human, was it out of love? or Status?" questioned Arria. Tiali thought about it, and answered. " Well I know for sure it was out of love... They had endured a lot when they were on Earth." Tiali smiled once more.



"That's wonderful to know... please enjoy your stay." Arria said as she went to the door. Out of no where a bunch of the royal children ran inside and swarmed over Tiali, in curiosity. Touching her dress as she bent down to look at them with a smile. They started to touch her hair and giggled. " Are your really a Gray? Why are you so tall? How come you have this on your head."  questioned all the children surrounding her.  Arria laughed. " Children its late your mothers will be worried for you. Your father is a requesting all of you for royal history." she said herding them out the door. Tiali giggled went they left, what charming children she thought... Now she had much to prepare for her meeting, she had a mini comp to make notes for her meeting, and including to contact the counsel members and have their questions placed in, to ensure everything was ready to be discussed. Tiali's only hope was that there would be no fighting to be involved, she felt she wouldn't be able to handle it the mere thought gave her a headache...
